kdo to je?

Daniel Skála is among the most respected concert cimbalom players in the world.. He focuses primarily on contemporary music, but his repertoire also includes the music of the Baroque and Romantic eras. He performs on his special concert cimbalom – named Francimór after a Czech fairy-tale character – as a soloist, in chamber groups, and with various orchestras. He also leads highly successful mprovisational projects and concerts.

Skála is also an active composer. He has written pieces for solo instruments, chamber groups, and orchestras, and created several evening-length projects based on directed improvisation, as well as a chamber “non-opera” Červený nos (The Red Nose).

Last but not least, he is also active as a teacher. In addition to teaching cimbalom playing, he also leads courses in “Creative Improvisation”, and, along with the artist Tomáš Volkmer, the “Re:Kreace” courses, both of which focus on creativity development through the application of varied improvisation techniques.
